Of Franco-Scottish stock, the product of the Auld Alliance between Scotland and France, since I was a wee lad I have been fascinated by Scotland, its history, its culture and its music.

Graduated from the ITHQ Montreal (Hotel and Tourism Institute) in the restaurant
and wine service, I started my career in the hospitality business in 1987 in the Laurentians.  Since then I had a dream to one day have my own business with a scottish theme.

The concept of my dream that I would call «The Caledonia» was growing while my career continued to evolve in Montreal.  My project remained a dream until I met my future wife, Geneviève who got interested in my scottish passion and was eager to help me bring my project to life.

In 1997, by chance we discovered  the scottish village of Gould-Lingwick in the Eastern townships...  The Caledonia had just found the perfect place to come to life. Four years later, after putting all our heart, our energy and our imagination into the dream, the Pub Caledonia opened its doors !

Yves Henley-Migneron
Specializing in scottish beers and Single Malt Scotch Whisky, with its warm authentic atmosphere, it rapidly became the meeting place for the locals, the Scottish community, as well as tourists from far away. Our beer and scotch tasting kits were very popular with many enthusiasts.

For five happy years, the Pub Caledonia vibrated to the rhythm of the Gould Scottish Traditions Festival and our own regular activities such as : The Friday Ceilidhs with Yves Hélie and his friends, the scottish festivities (Burn's Night, St-Andrew's Day) including also our Thursdays dart tournaments.

Life then found me on my next scottish adventure in Nova Scotia, more precisely at the Keltic Lodge of Cape Breton where I was the manager of the Purple Thistle Dining Room.  For many people I was «The man in the Kilt» which added a scottish colour to the place.  It was another very stimulating period.

I'm happy today to be back in the township of Lingwick that welcomed us so warmly with our «Pub Caledonia» and to bring it back to life as «Caledonia Events» by offering my services for
Single Malt Scotch Whisky tastings, scottish history workshop and musical-thematic evenings.

The Scots that have settled in Quebec in the early 1800, have brought a lot to the Quebec culture, so much so that their culture has strongly permeated certain Quebec traditions.  That is why through «Caledonia Events» I will have the pleasure to help you discover the history, the culture, the music and of course, the Whiskies of Scotland.

Slainte Mhath !
